Expanding the Arena Map Pool

Introducing 1047 Labs and Creator Maps

One of our ongoing goals for Splitgate is to regularly introduce new maps into the map pool to keep matches feeling fresh and varied.

Last Thursday, we introduced Whiteout, a new arena built by our Level Design team using the Map Creator tools. Whiteout is the first map in a new internal series called 1047 Labs, where we explore new ideas and layouts using the same tools available to the community.

Alongside 1047 Labs, we are also beginning to highlight standout maps from our creator community by bringing select creator-made maps into the Quick Play map pool starting in February. We have spent a lot of time playing these maps internally, and we want more players to experience the creativity coming out of the Map Creator.

And we are not stopping there. Over the next two weeks, we are also adding two new official arena maps to the rotation.

Trihard

As we have teased, Trihard is a brand new arena map set high in the clouds, untethered from the constraints of gravity. The map features high-flying gameplay built around launch portals and jump pads, with aerial combat taking center stage.

Trihard was designed to feel lighter and more playful than some of our other arenas. It is a space where movement is expressive, airtime is constant, and catching an opponent mid-flight is very much part of the experience. Trihard goes live with Update 2.2 on Thursday, January 22.

Runway

Runway is our second new arena map, set in a neon cityscape inspired by the energy and density of Shinjuku. This map focuses on strong portal routes, fast rotations, and clearly defined power positions that reward aggressive movement and smart positioning.

Runway will join the map pool one week later on Thursday, January 29.

Together, these two maps offer very different combat rhythms while staying true to the tight, readable encounters that define Arena gameplay.

New Mastery Camo: Isotromic

Aside from new maps, Update 2.2 introduces a new top-end reward for players chasing full weapon mastery.

Isotromic is a mastery camo awarded to players who unlock Proelium on every available weapon. It represents complete mastery across the entire arsenal and is intended as a long-term goal for the most dedicated players.

If you see Isotromic in a match, you know that player has put in the work.

New Limited Time Event: Teabag Takeover

You read that right. Teabag Takeover arrives on Friday, January 23! This new Limited Event is a celebration of a long-forgotten sign of respect. Some might even call it an elegant greeting, for a more civilized age. Players can jump into matches and teabag their opponents to earn points toward unlocking new teabag themed rewards.

This new event wouldn’t be complete without a new mode, and we’re excited to announce the return of the fan-favorite mode Teabag Confirmed will arrive alongside the event! So get ready to jump in and drop more than a few squats, and get rewards!

Introducing Arena Royale

The biggest addition in Update 2.2 is Arena Royale, a new mode designed to bring our previous Battle Royale closer to the speed and intensity of Arena Reloaded.

Splitgate’s Battle Royale already had strong foundations, but we went back to the drawing board to make sure Arena Royale delivered an experience that better reflects our arena roots. That process led us to a simple guiding philosophy.

Less looting. More shooting.

Traditional battle royales often include long stretches with limited engagement. Arena shooters thrive on constant pressure and fast encounters. Arena Royale blends these two ideas by keeping the scale and tension of a BR while dramatically increasing the amount of meaningful combat.

Arena Royale Overview

Arena Royale is a 24-player mode made up of six teams of four, built to play at a similar pace and length to a traditional arena match.

As long as one player on your team is still alive, your squad can respawn. Once you reach the final circle, all respawns are disabled and it’s all about survival. This keeps the action flowing and cuts down significantly on downtime.

Matches take place within a single biome, keeping the experience tight and focused. This allows Arena Royale to emphasize constant action, fast fights, and moment-to-moment decision making rather than long stretches of setup or traversal. The result is a faster, cleaner take on battle royale that still feels unmistakably Splitgate.

New Drop Flow

Matches in Arena Royale start differently than before. Instead of dropping from a ship, all players begin in a new stadium warm-up space. During this time, the entire lobby votes on which biome the match will take place in. When the voting timer ends, the biome with the most votes is selected and all players drop into that location.

Where We Dropping?

Arena Royale launches with four biomes. Three are returning favorites: Drought, Glacier, and Fracture. The fourth is a brand new urban battleground called Outskirts.

Outskirts.jpg

Outskirts introduces a different scale and feel to combat, with denser layouts, more vertical engagements, and a distinct feel compared to the other environments.

Looting and Match Pace

Pace was one of our biggest priorities when designing Arena Royale. We wanted to make sure that players feel like they have the opportunity to always be moving, if that’s how they like to play.

Looting is fast and frictionless. Chests open automatically, and loot drops instantly when a player is eliminated. This keeps players moving and fighting instead of spending time looking at boxes or fiddling in menus.

Overhauled Upgrades

Buy stations have been removed. Instead, upgrades are handled directly through your inventory, allowing you to make quick decisions without breaking the flow of the match.

Players earn cash by looting chests, securing eliminations, and participating in Arena Events. Each match features rotating arena-style events like Hotzone, Splitball, and Firecracker. These events pull players into fights, create clear objectives, and inject classic arena gameplay directly into the Battle Royale experience.

Winning events earns cash that can be used to upgrade your gear and gain an advantage as the match progresses.

Looking Ahead

We love this new take on Battle Royale and we think you’ll love it too. It keeps the scale, tension, and variety of a BR while delivering the speed and constant engagement that Arena Reloaded is built around.

We can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. Update 2.2 launches Thursday, January 22. Full patch notes and additional details will be shared soon.

We’ll see you in the Arena!
