Splitgate 6.2.0 Patch Notes

3.31.2022

A new update is live on consoles and PC and brings some optimizations and a few surprises.

Hey Splitgang, it’s your new pal, N00b here. I’m 1047’s new Engagement Director, running all things social and community with Akuvo, Endo, and ImTrachy. Before we dive into Splitgate patch notes for our new release, let’s have a little fireside chat.

Nice and toasty? Here’s the deal. When Splitgate launched on PC way way way way way back in 2019, the team was incredibly small. They didn’t know if they’d have success or how big the game would get. They just had an idea that seemed fun and were curious if others would like it. Fast forward to last summer and Splitgate’s beta went live on PlayStation and Xbox. The team was not ready for the massive success that followed. We’re getting ready.

Over the past few months, 1047 has been growing like a Kaiju ready to go full rampage. We’ve hired a ton of incredible senior talent who have worked at Riot, Epic, EA, Activision, and many more notable spots. What’s all that mean for you? It means that over the coming Beta Seasons, you’ll start to see some incredible improvements to Splitgate. We’re still in beta because we have not yet realized our vision for the launch version of Splitgate. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

But we aren’t about to forget who got us here. You. Yeah, even you in the back with the hair. The community has been key to Splitgate’s rise and we want to make sure you come along for the ride. What’s that really mean? By Beta Season 2’s launch in [redacted], we’ll be providing more inside looks and more news that goes first to people in our community channels (Discord | Reddit | Twitter | Insta for starters). As has always been our promise, the changes we make start with your voices.

Keep speaking out, reaching out, and giving your feedback. I promise, we hear it all and a lot of it are things we are working on. Here’s a cryptic preview of things we’re working on:

We’ll talk more about our plans soonish, but let’s focus on the now, at least for today.

EMP EFFECT IMPROVED

Ever tossed an EMP ‘nade at an enemy portal and thought, “I sure wish this effect was turned to 11?” Us, too! Well, our VFX artist Pavel Mazanik went into the lab and cranked this sucker right to 12. Now your portal poppin’ grenades will have a little extra pizzazz. Check it with your eyeballs.

NAMETAG ADDED

We’ve added a new nametag for the three winners of the #Splitgatetrickshot Challenge. Congrats to dr_died, babydemmaw, and loregzl for these epic winning trickshots. This trio of players are the only ones with this special tag in their banner in game. Look for them (and beware!).

SPS Finals were Lit

I’m too old to know what “lit” means, but I heard it on a Twitch stream a kid next to me on my flight was watching. If you haven’t been following the Splitgate Pro Series, you missed out on a pretty epic final weekend of matches. Buckle up for eight hours of fun right 👇

Congrats to Portal Demons who closed out the victory with a nail-biting 3-2 win over No Sleep. Seriously, I got no sleep watching the runner-up come back from 2-0 to almost turn the tide.

If you're digging SPS or you want to dig it for the first time, a new season is coming. More details on that soon.

Weekend Playlist

Did you know that every weekend there is a custom playlist that runs Friday-Sunday? During the week, you might notice this big dumb “?” in the menu. What goes there? The weekend playlist, of course. Sometimes this playlist can even include XP boosts.

So why do we have these special playlists?

  1. For fun!
  2. Sometimes we use it to test out combinations of game modes, modifiers, and maps to see if they work well and should be considered part of the normal rotation
  3. Couldn’t we all use something to look forward to each weekend?

Play of the Week

Let’s close it out with a bang. Check out this play from Motion Gaming (@mo_tiongaming)

Want to be considered for the Play of the Week? Share your great moment on any social platform, tag @splitgate and #SGplayoftheweek

Alright, those are all the words I can type this week. You can find me on Splitgate every day, usually in the mornings (Pacific Time Zone). Just look for N00bintheTube (and eyeball that “Developer” banner to verify). Come shoot me in the face. That’s what everyone does.

Now, charge up your portal gun and get hunting!
